Office Visits
Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with safe, gentle, high-quality dental care. We understand that you, or your child, may feel anxious about visiting the dentist. We are sensitive to your needs, and it is our goal to make you feel comfortable visiting our practice while providing the best care possible.
Your first visit is all about you – your comfort, your happiness, and your health.
During your first visit, we will review your dental and medical history and take updated radiographs (X-rays) of your teeth and mouth. The doctor will then meet with you to discuss any concerns and perform a comprehensive exam.
This exam includes:
- Checking for cavities, early decay, fractures, and other dental issues
- A periodontal (gum) evaluation to assess for gingivitis or periodontal disease
- An oral cancer screening
- Evaluation of the neck area, including lymph nodes and thyroid
After the exam, the doctor will review any recommended treatment, discuss your options, answer your questions, and work with you to create a personalized treatment plan that fits your oral health needs and smile goals. At your next visit, one of our hygienists will provide the appropriate cleaning based on your periodontal evaluation.
Bring your smile, but also remember to bring these with you to your first appointment:
- Your ID
- Your insurance card
- A written list of your medications and/or supplements (If you only have a few you can just write them on the health history form)
- Your Medical History Form, Financial Policy, & Consent for Service Form; completed. If you prefer to complete your forms in the office, you may do so at your first visit. We kindly ask that you arrive 15 minutes early to allow adequate time.
Regular checkups are an important part of maintaining a healthy smile!
The American Dental Association recommends visiting your dentist every six months for routine exams and cleanings to maintain healthy teeth and gums. Patients with periodontal disease are typically seen every 3–4 months to better control bacteria and help prevent progression.
We understand that you have a busy schedule, so when you're preparing to visit the dentist, please remember that your appointments can last between 45 and 90 minutes.
